“Mallards-Mania is running wild brother!” I shout out in my best Hulk Hogan voice while typing this. It’s been awhile since the newsletter came out but that’s because the Mallards have been busy gearing up for their 2024 season. Season ticket sales, a YouTube channel, and a bunch more new player announcements have all been launched this past week. Things are starting to feel real. Next thing you know it’ll be our January 7th debut. We’re the last team in the league to play our first regular season game, with everyone else playing their opening day on the 6th. The Mallards have decided that’s actually a good thing: we can rest easy the day before opening night, take a look at the stats and scores coming in, and use that as motivation to see how we’re going to crush everyone else moving forward.
Be Prepared for the Regular Season
As mentioned above, season tickets are on sale from now until the New Year. These $75 season ticket passes for all 10 home games will cement you as this organization’s first super fans.
Speaking of super fans, there are other ways you can get involved in our flock. We are looking for volunteers to work our game day operations. Specifically someone to run our ticket/merch table and a photographer. If you want to get involved, email us at cantonmallards@gmail.com
Sparking a Rivalry
There’s nothing better than sports rivalry to get fans engaged. We play the Hudson Valley Vipers five times this regular season and plan to go 5-0 against them. We’ll pull out all the stops including shutting them out in their fancy McCann Ice Arena and milking the advantage of us practicing since November and them just starting practice this week. A little chirp never hurt anyone. Prove us wrong Vipers.
Around the Hockey World in 3 Links
This is the Women’s Hockey edition of this section of the Newsletter. With the inaugural season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League starting up in the coming months, we want to make sure we champion all parts of our sport.
