League Updates
While our team has slowly been growing and we’ve been putting in the work to start the regular season off hot, the Union Hockey League has been doing even more prep work. Along with solidifying schedules and a league wide fanbase, there have been some teams that have rebranded themselves. Notably, in our East Division, the team in Poughkeepsie, New York has rebranded themselves as the Hudson Valley Vipers.
With those team updates in our division, we have a slightly new schedule! Make sure you come to the Canton Sportsplex for our home games and our YouTube channel (launching soon) for our away games and/or any game you can’t make it to!
Lastly, we want to not only get people hype for the Mallards first season but the inaugural season of the UHL as a whole as well. Over in the West Division, the Pittsburgh River Monsters and the Niagara Falls Buffalos have played a series of pre-season games that have been intense enough to spark a rivalry. Mallards Update
In case you couldn’t catch our social media posts this week, we signed two forwards: Hayden Kearney and Al Smith. Welcome to the squad Hayden and Al!
With our team growing, the marketing team has taken a step back in our efforts to find players to skate with us and have refocused ourselves on the sponsorship front. We have Trillium Brewing’s Canton location as our post-game bar but are looking for a couple more partners not only to help give our organization a solid foundation but also to ingrain ourselves in our surrounding community. Our sponsorship program is an excellent opportunity to support a local team and get your name out there. We have loads of perks for our sponsors ranging from plastering your branding on posters being put up around town to shoutouts on our game broadcasts. The Mallards Are Helping With Holiday Shopping
There’s a new page on our newsletter page that will help you with that pesky holiday shopping. Under the “Support the Mallards” tab you’ll find a plethora of Amazon and Ebay deals. The Mallards are Amazon and Ebay Affiliates, meaning if you use our links directing you to the latest deals on those sites and purchase something, a commission will go toward funding the team’s game day operations. It’s a win win! While you get the excellent deals you’ve been looking for, the Mallards will gain a solid infrastructure to support our team and make our home game’s at the Sportsplex awesome.

The purpose of this section of the newsletter is to expose everyone to pockets of the hockey world that you may not have known about. This is our Senior Hockey edition. The Union Hockey League is a Senior A league, the highest level of amateur hockey before pro. Before our regular season, we want to prep our fans with clips from other Senior leagues to see what this kind of action is about.
